Chapter 2: Good Practices
2.5 Good Practice in Italy: Stop Cyber bullying
Raising awareness among the public, and especially among families with teenage children, on the issue of cyberbullying, offering parents specific tools to deal with critical situations in which their children are victims of the phenomenon of cyberbullying: this is the objective of the Stop Cyberbullying institutional communication campaign with Istituto degli Innocenti of Florence.

The campaign was presented in Milan during the Italian edition of Safer Internet Day and included the creation of a 30-second institutional video-spot (broadcast on RAI public service channels) and a toolkit for parents, an interactive booklet aimed at helping fathers and mothers to support and guide their children in case they are victims of cyberbullying.

In the video parents are asked to pay attention to their son/daughter mood especially when he/she spends time on the internet, on socials etc. When/if they notice that something’s wrong with him/her they are invited to talk to someone in a wide range of professional figures, starting from teachers, headteachers, doctors, to police officers. Both the video and the toolkit are available online on the website of the Department for Family Policies.

The website www.minori.gov.it is an important means for the communication, information and promotion of children’s rights. The website provides the users with information on the bodies working with the National Centre, as well as on materials, documents and publications elaborated internally and externally. It disseminates news and insights on policies and projects concerning children, provides exchange platforms for the preparation of reports and the implementation of projects, and facilitates the exchange of experiences and projects focused on the well-being of children.
