Description of the activity carried out
The focus of this activity is on how feelings can influence communication. Many students have problems when interpreting and realizing what other people feel when they convey a message. The activity is done in pair, and first, without asking the deskmate, the student has to try to fill in the blank spaces from the worksheet with information about their deskmates. After this stage, exchange the sheets of paper and talk about what the deskmate has just written down about the colleague, and about what the reality actually is. In the communication process, we are all aware to the fact that empathy is paramount. It is at most importance, because sometimes, our feelings are even stronger than the message itself. We are fully aware that we need to share with our students all these aspects related to feelings and empathy, within our classes.
